Version 1 Version 2 Version 3 Version 4Girl from the North Country – Bob Dylan Album: The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan (1963) Lyrics & Music: Bob Dylan Guitar: Bruce Langhorne Tabbed by Robert Saunders Tuning: standard tuning with capo on 3 (and tuned down a bit from standard pitch) [Chords] G C/G Em9 D7/F# D9/F# Em E| 3 X 0 X 0 0 B| 0 1 3 1 1 0 G| 0 0 0 2 2 0 D| 0 2 4 0 0 2 A| 2 3 2 0 0 2 E| 3 3 0 2 2 0 [Notes] I've only included the chords for now but Bruce Langhorne used the Travis picking technique on this recording, with the thumb playing alternating bass notes and the 1st and middle fingers playing the 3rd, 2nd and 1st strings. (Langhorne lost his ring and little fingers in a childhood accident.) Dylan used the same chords (with capo on 1) in Boots of Spanish Leather on the album Don’t Think Twice. In live recordings Dylan tends to play Em7/D (X54030) instead of the Em9, and C major (X32010) instead of D7/F#. The chords listed below for the harmonica parts are the chords for the guitar not the harmonica.
